Does anybody know roughly how much to replace a bathroom water heater. Ours decided to leak causing rather a lot of mess and have been informed it needs to be replaced. Luckily we haven't left for vacation yet but are soon! Thanks

when it's possible...I prefer to save time...even if I can not save money! especially if the difference is quite small. somebody going to buy it for me, delivering home, fixing it, testing it...I prefer that....maybe because I'm working and I've not enough time.:(

We paid dhs200 last year. We drove to deira and bargained hard. We were quoted dhs550 at first. The building plumber charged us dhs100 for his services.

We just replaced ours and all our neighbours have had theirs leak in recent months so they are packing it in at about the same time. They often have a shorter life span in Dubai - around 4 / 5 years - because of the poor quality of tap water. I understand that they cost around 400 aed new (for the 30litre tank) to buy and we paid another 300 for labour. Yes a bit of a rip off but landlord was paying. I wish they would have a discreet shut-off switch and a little light/alarm to warn that they are kaput rather that this very messy raining ceiling thing that happens every single time. Its such an unneccessary hassle! Some apartments would have one in the ceiling for each bathroom and a separate one in the kitchen, and yet others may have a large 100litre one in a utility cupboard. The bigger boilers are usually more reliable and last a bit longer and definitely dont destroy the ceilings!

That's interesting! I think I need to phone around. No, you need to go and buy them yourself.

Can i ask who replaced yours? My husband installed one, but another one that was too high up in the roof cavity for him to reach was replaced by a 'local' plumber guy. We bought the heaters from a shop in Rashidiya. If the company comes and brings the heaters then they will charge more. Go out and price them, don't forget to haggle.
