I've been looking for Philly Cream Cheese (block not spread) so I can make cheesecake but I just can't find it in Spinney's or Carrefours...any suggestions?

I googled if I could substitute with the spreadable kind but apparently not.

Excellent I'll give the tub kind a go for my cold cheese cakes and I may even try it in my baked ones.. I was buying block cream cheese in Australia only weeks ago..how funny! I'm hoping gelatine isn't hiding behind a name other than gelatine??? When I couldn't find the cream cheese I didn't bother to look for gelatine.

Gosh, I haven't seen Philly cream cheese in a block for years - mind you, I suppose not having lived in England for over 20 years would do that. I use the Philly spread very successfully for cheesecakes, though I don't bake them.

I had no idea it came in a block?! I always use the tub kind for my cheesecakes and they come out fine. Mind you i always do english style. If you are doing American Style (Baked) it might be different...
