DEWA procedure before moving out of Dubai

... as we have more or less the same plan ... here goes... When you ask for your final bill (1 week before leaving), they will notify a guy, who will show up a week later and proceed to the final reading. After that you will have to return to DEWA to get your deposit back (and pay the final bill). Then you go to your landlord ... and villa hand-over will take place without any A/C ... so he won't be keeping you too long ... ;) But as there is always a chance that things take a little longer (Dewa not finding your file, LL changes his plans, etc...), you should maybe plan to hang around another day or two. (... and don't ask me why it takes ONE WEEK to notify a guy ... this will be another Dubai mistery which I will never resolve...) :\: GOOD LUCK!

From my research on EW regarding the final procedure with DEWA, apparently it is better to visit DEWA at least a week before you want to leave and request your final bill. And then on the date you leave, go back and pay it. Show it to your LL and don't give him keys until he has returned security deposit. It sounds fine to me, but when will dewa close down the electricity/water connections? We are planing to fly the next day after removal company finishes the packing/container loading.
