Dimmer Switches

Has anyone had their standard light switches replaced with dimmer switches in the UAE? Is it a straight forward procedure for an electrician to do? It looks very easy from the sites I have googled but I would appreciate some reassurance from people who have actually had it done here before I proceed - after having the 'yes madam' experience and then finding out it can't be done afterall too many times.
All advice gratefully received. :)

We used a British guy from Sterling Engineering - he was good and explained about non-compatibility with low-energy stuff and how if you have two switches on one circuit how you have to use them (so he said it was a waste of money to have two!) His number is 050 6942412

Some of our rooms have dimmer switches but have 2 switches - 1 dimmer, one on/off switch.

Very straight forward. We had ours installed by Jim Will Fix It. We were told same as what Floss SJ said, you can only use one switch with dimmer so if more than one for same light must decide on one and disable the other.

Thanks Floss SJ- that makes perfect sense. Of course the rooms in our house all have two switches (for one light) so I can understand that one may need to be disconnected. If anyone knows of an electrician that could possibly do this I would again be really grateful as I am rather wary of messing with electrics.

My husband has changed a few of our light switches to dimmer ones, it seemed to be quite easy, though I know that if the bulb is controlled by 2 switches then it becomes more difficult. In situations like this my husband disabled one switch and put the dimmer onto the other. Hope this makes sense, shout if you need more info.
