I really wanna go get a decent Moroccan hammam but I just can't get my self to strip down completely in front of a stranger! :-)
The one time I got it in turkey was at one's personal reference...apparently it's not the case here :-))
Any decent hammams without the striping bit??

I think they range from about 400 to about 700, as you can choose different levels of massage (i.e. full body, full body plus wrap etc.). I had the most basic one which was fab and my mum had a couple of levels up which included more treatments and was about double the time. Probably worth calling to check recent prices... OeB If you do it, would you mind coming back and doing a review? I'd be very interested to hear how you find it.

I did the one at the Royal Mirage hotel - think it's called the Oriental hammam. Anyway it was AMAZING; I have never felt so pampered and clean! I did wear a bikini as did my mother who was with me, but we both agreed that we felt like the odd ones out in the end as all the other ladies were just wearing bikini bottoms. It's odd at first, but you sort of get used to seeing so much flesh and as it's all women who really cares :) Plus no one is really looking, everyone's getting their own massage so no weirdness in that respect But yes you can wear a bikini if you want and they won't try to remove it without asking (which I've had happen before in a rubbish hammam). Afterwards you're offered dates and mint tea and oud perfume...so relaxing, loved it.

I went to the one in Dubai Ladies Club. It was my first Moroccan bath but I expected her to scrub me hard. Yeah there was some dry skin here and there, but it wasn't what I expected. I really wanted a scrub down lol.

OK. Thanks. Thing is I have this fabulous big bath tub at home, but the blasted water tank is as big as a thimble and the hot water fills it to about an inch before it runs out!!! Bought some of that black Morrocan Soap and a glove from Global Village then realised I had nothing decent to soak in! Bl00dy Meadows villas!!! Why put in a 3 person spa when the only time of the year you can fill it is summer when it's 50 degrees outside and no one wants to take a hot bath anyway??? Sorry...digressing. Those hammams sound lovely and much like the Korean bathhouse I used to go to in Sydney (only more private which is kind of a shame as it was nice to sit in a ginseng bath and chat with girlfriends). Does anyone have an establishment here they would recommend? Sorry for hijacking.

Interesting. I've not heard of these hammams. Is it done in a big communal bathhouse and communal massage room like a Korean spa or is it just you and another lady? You and another lady. Although I once went with a friend and we both were scrubbed at the same time in the same room by two different ladies but that was a cheapie in Deira. Lol! I hate taking my clothes off in front of strangers but after a few minutes you realize they really dont care how all your bits look as they do it day in and day out. Never did it again though. My DH bought the products in Morroco and we have a spa day at home. Hehe!

I think you just get used to it...it seemed easier in Dubai than it would in UK, not sure why...although I don't see why it would be a major problem to wear a bikini if you wanted to, even in Dubai

I can't recommend one that doesn;t involve stripping although I can tell you that the one at the Dubai Ladies Club is amazing although does involve the exfoliation of bits that were never designed to be exfoliated! I think the lady will have seen it all before though!
