Got married in Dubai and wondering if I need to register our marriage at the embassy? If so, does anyone know what I have to do? TIA!

I had to get three separate documents stamped at four levels in the US and then officially translated to arabic and then all stamped by two separate ministries here. Then had to get shari'a marriage contract and all dowry, divorce settlement etc etc done the same way and in the end what do you think they looked at? My husbands ID card.

Where did you get married DesertPrincess? We just got married at Christ Church Jebel Ali and (for a fee of course) the church registered our docs at the Dubai Courts & UK Embassy for us.........

Sounds like my experience! They requested a zillion attested papers that went back and forth between Dubai and the UK... and in the end they didn't even look at them!

Tell me about it. After all the hoops we had to jump through, all the documents, the stamps and ministries the last thing I wanted to do was visit about embassy. But it took about an hour, fairly painless in the context of everything I had gone through :-)

Congratulations! I registered mine with the american embassy. Call the UK embassy and ask them what they require. I just had my certificate translated officially into english from arabic, had it stamped as authentic and brought this with the original to the embassy, filled out a form and it was done.
