swim at schools? Not that I don't want my DD to learn but is it part of their PE class? Wouldn't be in the Uk would it?

In the UK swimming and water safety is compulsory as part of the National Curriculum, with the aim that by the age of 11 (Key Stage 2) children should be able to swim unaided for at least 25m. In Dubai it appears to be quite random with quality and safety issues ranging from poor to good.

I think in most schools it is part of PE if the school has a pool but it won't actually teach your child to swim properly as most children will need more of a one to one.

I think it's hit and miss. DD was taught to swim at the British School while we were living in Muscat but both schools my kids have attended in the UAE don't seem to be too serious.

In SA swimming is also part of P.E. and for the price of schooling here it better be included as well.

Don't know about here, but certainly in uk usually at aged 7 The target is that all children can swim at least 25 metres whilst in KS2.

The UK schools where I am from teach swimming. I learnt to swim at school in the UK I know that does not answer your question but I would not find it odd if they did teach swimming, especially seeing as how close to the sea we are
