Hi Daza, if you mean buying products from EU, yes I do buy those, but generally do not buy processed foods. Di@DXB, I'm still trying to find a free app that works. One of them is valid in USA only, the others cannot be found in the App. But thank you so much! We shall keep looking!! :-)

Thank you Daza. Europe requires products coming in from the USA to have GMO labeling if there is GMO in the products. I am sure the same can be done here as well. What about products from outside the U.S. or from within the EU itself? My brother is a scientist with a global horticultural chemical company and I'm passionate about organic food. We have some interesting discussions!

Exactly Apricot, that was my point- if other countries are doing it, why can't UAE? I wonder why was the law prevented from being passed. GMO are poison! Di@DXB, thank you! I will try these other links. I did see some products on Amazon bearing the logo of Non Gmo Project Verified, so hopefully it will work at some point. Thanks again!:)

Saudi Arabia has laws requiring that all GMO ingredients be listed on a separate label affixed to the food or food package. A similar law was prevented from passing in the UAE in 2006.

Thank you Daza. Europe requires products coming in from the USA to have GMO labeling if there is GMO in the products. I am sure the same can be done here as well. Thanks so much Di@DXB. You are a star!! I do not buy anything processed, except a couple of things that are manufactured in Europe. I specifically AVOID buying anything that comes from the US. I love the orange sweet potato from US but I will never buy it again. :-( I buy organic mostly. Huge thanks for the app!! x If Europe can ask for labels to clearly say if there are GMO in a food product, then I am sure the same can be done here. The government may not care about us, but surely they must care about their own. edited by Chocobella on 23/11/2014

Unless its marked non GMO its safe to assume it will be GMO, and as Daza says most processed food is. There is no legislation requiring manufacturers to declare genetically modified products. Avoid as much processed food as you can and eat organic homemade and whole foods wherever possible. You can download the app for a non GMO shopping guide here http://www.nongmoproject.org/find-non-gmo/iphone-app-shopping-guide/

Yes. The majority of processed food contains at least some GMO ingredients. It would be impossible to ban all food containing GMOs.
