Ear candling is a hoax and not good for you, it doesn't provide any benefits at all and you can burn yourself quite painfully if you're not careful. There is no way wax or "toxins" can be pulled out of your ear in that way, the pressure would have to be so great it would rupture your eardrum. See [url=http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/candling.html'>this link[/url'> for more info. About six months ago I heard an ENT consultant being interviewed on the radio here and he was totally against ear candling.

Really? But everyone I know who has had it done said they felt like their ears were much clearer afterwards and they felt better, etc. Placebo effect?? Thanks for the link, it looks a really interesting site actually!

Thanks pollydxb1! I'll tell her to check that out as well recommending Dr Shuker in the Dubai London Clinic. Although using a sucker to get the wax out sounds kind of fantastic and really revolting all at the same time! Appreciate your help ladies. :-)

Yes, the pharmacy linked to Dubai London Clinic on Beach Road stocks them. if it keeps getting blocked though, see Dr Shuker the ENT doc there, he is lovely! And uses a sucker to get the wax out! HTH

That's good advice, thank you. Its actually for my friend who is not an EW forum user that I am asking. She's not particularly suffering with blocked ears but had them 'candled' about a year ago whilst abroad and said it was such a great feeling she wanted to do it again. I will pass on your advice to her though. Whilst I'm on here, Ayzzy, do you know which chemists? I've not seen them myself in any of the ones that I go to. Thanks again! :-)

go and see a GP first. My son suffered from blocked ears and I thought it was lots of wax. I tried the drops but not the candle and it didnt work. I saw the ENT specialist in Dubai Mall clinic and it turns out that both my sons ears were full of cotton threads and the ear was producing more wax because of this and it has completly sealed the cotton in. The ENT specilaist had to Syringe his ears
