Does anyone have any recent experience in flying a persian cat (some airlines do not carry this breed) from Los Angeles to London Heathrow? I want to know if any airline will allow in the cabin as excess baggage, or is it mandatory that they must travel in the hold as cargo. Any input would be appreciated.

Anything individual airlines allow is overruled by the regulations of the arriving country. If it the UK it must be cargo regardless of airline.

American Airlines flies persians and they usually have a special cargo compartment for animals. No airline will allow a cat as excess baggage in the cabin. Saudi Arabian Airlines do ! :D ( but they don't fly from LA only the East coast)

Thank you. American Airlines will not fly pets to the UK cargo or otherwise so think it will be KLM via Amsterdam.

Pets arriving in the UK have to arrive as cargo as the UK authorities do not allow them to arrive in the cabin or as checked baggage.

Thanks will check with American Airlines. Some airlines do allow in the cabin, KLM, Swiss Air and Lufthansa. The problem I am having is that many airlines do not like to carry snub-nosed pets such as persian cats, pug dogs etc. as they may have breathing problems with the air pressure.
