Hello, I see that I am not the only one who suffers from such problems. I live in Abu Dabi and I have been trying for 4 months to get back the money I paid for car repair. The car is not currently in driving condition due to a garage fault. Customer service did not help and now I will try to open a case in court. I will update my progress. Please share your progress.

It's happened to us..car goes in for one thing and other issues become apparent during the course of repair. . Us too To the point where the cost of repairs were exceeding the value of the car!

so leaving a car which works and been told now it doesn't is shocking to me I asked DH about this and he says that it does happen, in fixing one problem you can cause or highlight another. It's not intentional, or indicative of poor service from the garage. The garage could be telling the absolute truth, so before you go accusing them of causing damage you'd better be 110% sure that you are correct. Making false accusations is an extremely serious matter here.

The garage deal is like a visit to doctor. I have had similar experience. I certainly didn't have a situation like yours and I could drive my car to other garage for second opinion. As for Consumer Rights, Di@dxb has replied perfectly. I went thru that process myself for a Samsung Tablet which kept failing to operate after a few days post repair. Eventually it was sorted once I complained to DED. Try that option.

I didn't express myself well as I came for a coolant leakage and after they "fixed" it, announced me that my car doesn't start and that extent of damage is greater as another problem occurred when they tested it, with high estimate of repair. they didn't repair the great damage only the leakage. so leaving a car which works and been told now it doesn't is shocking to me. I wish I could understand the logic of mechanics to evaluate how this damage could have occurred. they told me that I should have come earlier to fix it, putting blame on me, while I could drive it fine and once it happens at their garage they don't take any responsibility. anyway thank you for your reply

So they fixed the problem that you took it in for and while on their premises it has developed another problem that did not ever exist before it went to them? If that is the case, I can only think you could contact the DED and file a complaint there, however you need to put the issue in writing to the garage first, and then if not satisfied with their response, you contact the DED. They will not act unless you have tried to resolve it yourself and failed. You will also need any paperwork you have that indicates it went in for just one problem not the new problem they want you to pay for now, they are wrong not to have consulted with you about the new problem and should have taken your ok for the additional repairs before doing them. Unless you gave them carte blanche to do any work required, they should not have taken it into their own hands and bill you out of the blue. So put it in writing to the garage and see what they come back with, probably best to find out the name of the manager or owner and write to him. You can file a complaint online here if that gets you nowhere. http://www.consumerrights.ae/aspx/about/contact.aspx edited by Di@DXB on 13/07/2014
