Hardwood flooring from dragon mart...

As we are in abu dhabi, we were quoted 45dhs/sq.m. inclusive of installation in abu dhabi. about 5 planks add up to 1 sq.m.
>has anyone used it? I think the material is HDF...
>how long have you had it installed in your house.
>how do you maintain it? do you find issues with moisture etc?
> any other points I should keep in mind before I make a decision

I searched the boards for a related thread and found one, but not a lot of info on it, except that people have purchased hardwood floors from dragon mart.

So any feedback really really appreciated.

we bought a heap of Bamboo floorboards from Dragonmart. We had a large area outside decked and it looks great. I'd never heard of Bamboo decking before so googled it and to my surprise had fantastic reviews about it. My DH had to trim alot of boards and was amazed at how hard the stuff is.....wasn't cheap but very durable.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. We finally decided to pick up laminate flooring, as it seemed the most feasible. Ended up paying about 30dhs per sq.m. Did check up bamboo flooring in dragon mart, however the price was way up there and as we did not want to spend that much, decided to go with the laminate instead.

Be very careful, mostly about termites etc. If you are renting and you did infect the house you could be liable for a lot.

ok, I found a few contacts, so I am going to call them up tomorrow evening (incase they happen to be open) and on Saturdays to check them out. As we may have to finalise the flooring by saturday morning... However if you did use any particular company or know of any Mariana, please do let me know. Thanks :)

hi Mariana, Thanks for your suggestion, however googling 'bamboo flooring abu dhabi / dubai/ uae' did not give me any results here in the uae. Did a search on expatwoman forum too and that came empty as well. Do you know of any place that deal in them? Would really like to check them out as it seems worth looking into.

Thanks starsouthern. I did go around and ask some other companies and was quoted from between 4000-8000 for flooring. But these were uk standard wood floors, however it still does not make much sense to me to spend as much since we may move out of this apartment anytime between 2-5 years. So if dragon Mart stuff can last reasonably long then might as well go for that I guess.... Would u happen to remember if you did anything in particular to maintain / clean it? Thanks

I've used the wooden flooring from there about 5 years ago it wasn't for a house though. It looked good and I think has lasted well. Even after a massive flood it didn't look too bad, it kinked a bit but straightened out after a while when it completely dried out. edited by starsouthern on 09/11/2011
