I'm due to have my baby on Nov 7th

What do I need to do to get a birth cirtificate, passport and am able to leave the country with the baby??? Will I need an exit visa for the baby? How long is the baby allowed to be in the country after he is born, is it 30 days just like when your on a visit visa??? (If so how can I possibly get everything done in a 30 day period?)

Any help would be great!!!

By the way I'm and American and on a visit visa my I have a 3 yr old son here with me on a visit visa, and my husband has his residency through his company.

Thank you

Hi I had a baby recently(in the last 4 months) I don't think the hospital will worry about your status, as long as you are married then you should be OK, I gave birth at medcare, not once did they ask me for passport or wedding cert. When DD was born we got a short certificate and birth notification from the hospital. From there DH went to ministry of social affairs to get the birth cert, then had to else where to get it attested. It's a long winded process. I will ask him exactly what he did when he gets in. You have up to 3 months to get baby's paperwork sorted. We got birth cert done in a day, but passport took over 6 weeks(we are British and had to send passport to Germany, thanks to a backlog of passports, DD's took ages) When her passport came we went away to UK for holiday so did not do visa for her and our trip fitted int the 3 month deadline you have to get visa. They dd ask me why I was traveling with her as she did not have an entry stamp in her passport. DH was not with us, and stupid me did not think to bring her birth cert in case they asked any questions. So DH had to come back to the airport with his I.d to prove he was the dad and he was OK with me taking her out the country.

You have 120 days after baby is born to either get an exit visa and leave the country or get residency. Only one of the parents needs to have a valid residency visa. If you use a company called baby steps they do all the birth cert stuff for you. edited by starsouthern on 09/10/2011

We have been living here about 6 months now... The hospital has no problem with me not being a resident... Also I had my son in Kuwait on a visit visa there... So we have had a similar situation before but these are 2 totally different countries so the process I'm sure is different (my husband can't sponsor us because of his comanies rules) In kuwait the visit visas were good for 90 days allowing us much more time to get everything sorted out... I'm sure the hospital will walk me through how to get the birth cirtificate... and we then go to the embassy for the passport (this is how it was done in Kuwait) But I don't know how we will get all of this done in the 30 day period (unless newborns can stay longer than 30 days) I also dont know if there is any additional requierments for the baby to leave the country like an exit visa??? In Kuwait this was requiered... but there even I had an actual paper visit visa that had to be shown on the way out... I'm just trying to figure out the whole process here for our situation so I don't run into any problems... I'm just not sure where to find all the answers... (you would think our own embassy would be halpful but they are not)

If you can stay, the hospital gives you a birth certificate. Then you have to do a few formalities to get the birth certificate registered in the different ministries. Buy the Explorer, it explains the procedure well.

As far as i know, you Will have problems having a baby on a visit visa unless it's an emergency. I would leave the country in a hurry and have your baby in your home country. Are you being followed here in a hospital ?
