www.ownersdirect.co.uk try on their might be something avaliable in the area in which you are looking or try visitbritain.com and search self catering ammodation or serviced accm they usually have a big list of rated places. Where would you fly into? I guess if you can also find somewhere near a Motorway link then hopefully should be ok if the weather is bad.

When I was house hunting in Bristol a few years ago I stayed in some very nice serviced apartments 100m from Cabot Circus, Bath is about 40 mins away, long straight dual carridgeway (though why not look for the same thing in Bath) Professional short lets should be cheap over xmas as not many business travellers are around

It might be a long shot but try Trustedhousesitters.com . It is a very good site where people advertise for pet sitters all over the world, but there are loads in the UK, and you can search on the map for any in the area that you are looking for. I think there is no cost either way - people get their houses and pets looked after for free, and people get to stay in that area for free. You will need to register, and many of the 'sitters'are professional sitters lol, but if there is something you can always email them with your requirements etc.

My husband has decided we need to spend Christmas in the UK with his recently bereaved father, who has very limited mobility, cannot climb stairs and cannot fly anywhere . Unfortunately nobody in our family has enough room to put all of us up, so last year we spent lots of money on a self-catering place in the Cotswolds and had a complete nightmare because it was so inaccessible due to snow and the heating was ineffective. More snow is predicted this year and I really don't want to have the same problem again. Anywhere we go needs to have a ground floor bedroom and bathroom or effective lifts and if a hotel, must have interconnecting rooms for my 3 very lively children. I also need to be able to drive to it from the Bath area if it snows! Any suggestions/recommendations gratefully appreciated.
