ok, here is what you do. Go the the ATM Machine. have your ripped bills taped lightly and sandwich it between two other bills. Put the bills in the deposit envelope and deposit that money to your account. voila, you have the receipt you deposited the money and they will accept it :)...

I'm having the same problem!! My cat has an irritating penchant for tearing up bank notes so I've been carrying the ripped pieces of a 500 and a 50 around with me for weeks now! I've been to see a couple of banks, here's what I've been told so far - provided the serial number is still intact on the note then it should be exchanged. FIrst bank I visited told me I was to take it to my own bank and the money would be refunded into my account - I've since been told by my bank that I can only exchange damaged notes in the Central Bank at Bur Dubai. Got my company driver to try exchanging the notes at SCB last time he went there but no joy - again referred to the Central Bank. So that's my next stop. If you find any other bank willing to exchange damaged notes for intact ones please let me know! I'll let you know how I get on at the Central Bank....

I received a 500 bill in a similar condition, taped up, and I didn't have any issues spending it.

whether it is torn or not it is still legal tender. The bank will exchange it.
