I put a cup in a covered container than add milk before bed. that way, it is really soft, except for the nuts and the milk is just right in the morning.
Great idea!

Hi juzzrach,
I make a variety of muesli called Bircher Muesli that has been made by a Swiss healthclinic/sanatorium. As to proportions, I take the rule of thumb, such as: 6 handfuls of oat, a handful each of grated hazelnut, almonds, walnuts, half a handful of pumpkin & sunflower seeds. The Bircher Muesli does not use dried fruit, only fresh: grated apple, sliced banana, segmented orange/grapefruit, any berries. Instead of milk I use diluted live yoghurt, and because of the sweetness of fresh fruit no sugar is needed. Bon apetit...
The one I make is from a low GL recipe, but adapted with whatever I can find. I found it a bit 'hardcore' at the beginning but really like it now.
I measure it out using a glass so the proportions are right.
4 glasses of oats
1 glass of spelt or rye flakes
1 glass of flaked almonds or normal almonds or another nut whizzed in the food processor
1/2 a glass each of pumpkin seeds, sesame seeks, sunflower seeds, flax seeds and goji berries (or another dried fruit, cranberries are lovely).
It's best to give the flax seeds a whizz in the coffee grinder first or buy ground ones, as you don't get any goodness from them if they are not cracked.

Would like to make my own (raw) muesli. I just want the basics ie rolled oats, almonds, coconut, dried fruit etc but have no idea what proportions to use. I also want to make a large amount to keep in an airtight container. Can anyone please help.....:)
I did post this on foodies but thought it might move quicker here...
