Hi there!!

I am looking for any other Mums out there in DUbai that homeschool their children. We are relocating to Dubai in the next month or so, and I would like to homeschool the children until September so they can start the year fresh and so I can also reassess where they will be going to school.

Basically, I will be starting up a new company, so I won't actually be teaching the children myself, but will be based from home. I am looking for a teacher/tutor to come in for a few hours a day to teach my 11 and 6 year old, are there any other people out there currently doing this, or is there anyone who is in the same situation and looking to join us??

Any comments or suggestions appreciated!!

Thanks, Steph :)

Notmyrealname - do you teach 4 year olds who are home schooled? do you have an e-mail address? I have 3 kids under 4 years. My eldest will be 4 + 3months in September. I will only put him in school in 2013 and will educate him at home but it would be beneficial to have some additional tutoring with someone other than myself. Is this something you may consider?

Hi nectar. There is a home schooling association here : Nahra. They will also be able to guide you through. You can also check with K-12. They are recognized as a school here and you can start whenever you want - american curriculum. You can choose a whole curriculum of just the subjects you want. Their material is nice, they have teachers here in Dubai to tutors your children, and your children will be able to mee some peers ;-) We are homeschooling also, but my children are older. The youngest is almost 12(DD). If you want, feel free to contact me :-) edited by Tiki on 13/02/2012

Sorry just noticed that you say you are moving out in the "next month or so" which means you may miss the fair. To answer your question yes, there are a few private teachers working here in Dubai , including myself, but not many. There are a number of families who would benefit from it, and a number of teachers who have expressed a desire to give it a go so it's just a matter of finding them. I have been working as a teacher/governess for almost 8 years now and think it's a fantastic way for children to benefit from being able to travel or live in multiple places with their parents without putting the pressure of their education solely on the parents shoulders. Feel free to contact me through this forum if you have any more questions, and best of luck with the move.

Funny that you should ask! I was just speaking to a friend about starting up a business which would help to match families with private teachers, because we do think there is a growing demand for it worldwide. We are considering having a booth at the EW education fair so keep an eye out for us there. =)
