Hi Ladies - we have a male cat (neutered) - he is almost 4 years old - he is gorgeous but he struts around our compound & fights with other cats but he is so gentle with my children & any other children for that matter - he lets them push him in the dolls stroller & he likes being cuddled. I would really like to get another kitten - a young kitten if possible around 10 weeks but not sure how my older cat will react & I don't want him to feel put out or left out - any suggestions to make it easier for him!!!!!!??????

Hi there, Street urchin what assisi said is right, it just takes time we have four rescues and while they dont all adore each other they put up and fights are minimal! The youngest kitten we adopted (who is still missing boo!) was taken under the wing of our oldest and most grumpy cat Dave who doesnt like anyone, was so sweet to see them sleeping next to each other he used to let the kitten eat first and even clean him!! We just hoping our baby Alfie comes home soon, we miss him so much!!!!!!! Good luck with your new addition!

The smallest one is about 7/8 weeks old, is black and white, and only has a 1inch long tail because we think some nasty person chopped it off when he was small! He waves his little tail in the air though when he's happy! I also have two ginger/White girls about 11 weeks old, one all black girl about 15 weeks old, and all ginger boy about 7/8 weeks old and an all White female about 5 months old. Assisi - good news - I can get a kitten earlier than expected - I was waiting for a friend to get back from her summer holiday as she has my litter box - she just sent me a message saying I can pick up the litter box from her villa. I would really like a male kitten - PLEASE SEND ME YOUR CONTACT DETAILS - THEN I CAN LET YOU KNOW AS SOON AS I HAVE THE LITTER BOX - THE KITTY WITH THE SHORT TAIL SOUNDS PERFECT ( I WOULD PREFER A MALE) BUT ANY KITTEN WOULD BE PERFECT - THEY WILL BE LOVED BY US & LOOKED AFTER ;-)

The key is get their differing smells on each other ... Also have the kitten in a separate room for a few days / week while exchanging their smells on each other (stroke male cat with a small towel then rub this over kitten etc). Do this several times and vice versa over a few days so kitten doesn't smell 'foreign'. When you finally introduce do it gradually and supervised so your adult doesn't attack the kitten etc. It's sometimes a difficult process and doesn't always work - my FF 1 year old won't accept any new kittens now whereas my 10 year old cat will. I have 6 kits here right now in separate rooms because I foster ... of lots of choice ;) THANK YOU FOR THIS INFO - IT WILL DEFINITELY HELP!!!! I AM LOOKING TO GET A NEW KITTEN BEGIN OF SEPTEMBER - HOW OLD ARE YOUR FOSTER KITTENS - I REALLY NEED TO GET A VERY YOUNG KITTEN - I KNOW IT WILL MAKE IT SO MUCH EASIER FOR MY CAT TO GET USED TO.
