Thanks, I think I understood now and have good smell in my house :-) "it gets VERY hot though so use tongs to carry it if needed and then don't touch it as even when it looks 'dead', the charcoal is still burning inside." CORRECT, but I have seen there are kind of spoons to buy to handle it.

Have been looking at this today in shops in MCC, but where is the best place to buy the bakhoor and burners please? You can buy bukhoor at Arabic perfume shops, although the best ones are from the souq's and homemade....the coal and burner can be purchased in those cigar shops or Carrefour/Lulu. The Arabic perfume shops sell fancier burners though.

Have been looking at this today in shops in MCC, but where is the best place to buy the bakhoor and burners please? I have about 6 burners now - my favourite is actually from the stall Swiss Arabian. They're at most malls. I got a set there recently for 200 AED that included bakhoor, burner and a bottle of the scent in oil form to wear as perfume which I adore. You can get the bakhoor in many forms - I have some as powder, some in like shards of wood and some in compacted balls you break off. I also have a torch like the cooks torch to burn the charcoal but you can also light it using the flame on your oventop - get it burning well and then it should take care of itself - it gets VERY hot though so use tongs to carry it if needed and then don't touch it as even when it looks 'dead', the charcoal is still burning inside.

Yes, the bottom section catches stuff and helps air circulate. Burn the charcoal until it glows red, if you blow gently on it it will start to glow and 'eat' the rest of the charcoal. You put the bakhoor directly on the charcoal and it will smoke. It takes a little while to get used to it and I tried a few charcoals before getting it right. My best tip is to leave it with a draft like air conditioning to help it keep going then you can keep adding bakhoor as long as you want.

I use mine all the time - you need charcoal which you burn at a corner until its glowing red. It's best to leave in a place it can catch some air to keep it burning then put your favourite bakhoor or incense on top - that's it! http://www.bakhoor.info/ thanks. but the burner has two layers. i put the charcoal in the one on top, correct? the one below is for catching the ashes?!

If it's a charcoal one then all you do is light the coal then when it's gone white put a small piece of bakhoor on top and it will start to smoke filling the room with a lovely smell.
