Indoor Soccer skills training for kids - Al Quoz
Hi all,
Just wanted to give these guys a plug as they're really good and I only found out about them through word of mouth even though I was hunting for indoor soccer stuff on here and via google! So I'm thinking there might be others out there who are looking for some active things for their children to do that aren't impacted by the dust or heat in Dubai and might appreciate this lead as I did.
This is soccer skills training, run in the Indoor Football Centre near Lime Tree Cafe in Al Quoz. You take the Al Manara Road exit from SZR, so very central. It's run on a Monday and a Wednesday 3.15pm - 4.14pm. You can do either night or both.
Basically it's a lot of left brain-right brain coordination and running/dribbling. They finish off with a friendly game where they put the skills into practice. I have a soccer mad 10 year old and this is the best skills training I've seen in either Oz or Dubai so far! We've hada couple of false starts here where things were just not run well and I pulled out.
My 7 year old also does it and he is not a soccer enthusiast but even he's into it because they do the skills stuff as games so the children don't realise they're actually exercising!!! My boys had taken a hiatus from soccer for 18 months or so and I've seen their skills pick up heaps in just 3 weeks with these guys.
The sessions are run through the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence:

The Coach is Derek Whyte who is an ex-Captain of the Celtic team in the UK Soccer league and he is amazing with the kids - keeping them focused and enthusiastic. Here is a blurb on him: http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20090115/derek-whyte_2212158_1521269
