Thanks for the replies everyone. I spoke to the insurance dept at Medcare and they said the same as you Jag so just hope Dr Whately is covered by them. I phoned my insurance as well and while Medcare is covered they could not say if individual doctors were covered.

Some insurance say they dont cover him or dr Sinclair - same department. However I remember having this conversation with medcare accounts 3 yrs ago and I believe that there is a surplus to their charges e.g consultation is 300 and then they add a specialist charge of 150, so the full charge is 450. We ended up having to pay for the 150, the 300 was covered, and then claimed back the 150 from our insurance, as dr sinclair was actually covered by them.

I think that he (along with a couple of others) is named on my policy as being exempt from cover. I don't have the documents with me but I seem to remember reading this.

Hi I have an appointment with Dr Whately and when I was making it they said that he is not affiliated to any insurance company and I might need to pay some of the appointment fee. Has anyone experienced this. I am covered with Allianz Insurance Worldwide and never had any problems before with only part of the consultation being covered. I will speak to my insurance company but just wondered if anyone else experienced this.
