Hi Sue62 - this sounds really great - would love to call the UK at 1p a min! How do you set it up and get a UK number? you subscribe to a website, then buy a phone and the box - if you google int ern et ph0ne there's probably lots of them... then you top up credit as and when you want - like you would a mobile. The website keeps complete logs of calls in and out and you can set voicemail..

There is also Ma gicJac k - brilliant for calling the US. I have a normal house phone plugged into my computer that has a US number. When my family want to call (or if I want to call them), its like making a local call! sounds like what we use though it isnt ma gic J... we have a UK number (same code as where we live) and can make calls to UK from here for a penny a minute and UK can ring us for about 1p a minute i think - whatever the normal rate is...the phone's connected to a box that plugs into the intenet socket (i think lol) <em>edited by Sue62 on 06/02/2012</em>

There's also Viber....works pretty much like whatsapp but you can make phonecalls providing the person you call also has Viber installed too.....It's an app you can install on your iphone ( I'm not sure about other phones) what if you have aged parents who don't have internet or mobile phones ? lol Set up a skype in number - they just dial the number from their normal landline and it get routed through skype. It meant my Mum could phone me whenever she liked without worryin about the cost. http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/features/allfeatures/online-number/ so does it go through to a normal phone or do you need to have skype on your mobile or pc ?
