Hi ladies,
When a potential recruiter suggest you to go on a local contract, I'm not sure on what is it about? I assume that a local contract will include some allowances (accom., school fee...)?...
I would really appreciate any help that I can get.
Thanks a lot in advance.

The local contract is one that everyone has to sign which is in Arabic and English and submitted to the Ministry of Labour. It will have a section for salary, allowance etc but not school fees I don't think. Your company may then attach their own contract of employment to it. When push comes to shove though the Ministry of Labour's Contract always prevail.

It could mean that they just plan on using the standard Arabic Ministry of Labour contract whereas most companies have that plus an English additional contract which goes into a lot more detail. Definitely try to get a high base salary as this is what your end of service gratuity is calculated on - it does not include any of the benefits/allowances.

Thanks GD for the answer In that case, I'll ask for a bigger basic salary. Hope they will accept.

Local contract normally means no added benefits, just a salary. No visa, no nothing, cheap labour.
