Hi!
Taking our small DS to Damascus son and I know the traffic is horrendous and going through the souk will be tricky as they tend to run off whenever they can. I thought I saw a thingie which was tied round the parent's wrist and the child wrist - just for those really risky situations (crossing main roads in the middle of old Damascus etc) would be really useful - does anybody know where to get sth like this from???? Especially worried about 4 year old DS, very cheeky monkey.

Hi Im not sure if you have sorted yourself out yet, but I know they do sell them in mothercare. I bought mine in mothercare here, they sell them in pink and blue These are the ones that you strap around the chest, but I have seen the wrist ones in baby shop. Try MOE or oasis. Good luck

I have a wrist one you are welcome to have. I'm not in Dubai but can post to you. Not sure how long domestic post with Emirates Post will take.

Have you tried mothercare? I saw them at the mothercare at Spinney's town center in the meadows/springs about 1 week ago - they had quite a few. Oh this was just the thing that goes around the chest....maybe they had a wrist one..... edited by Mrs Laughan on 31/01/2011

You can also buy little back-packs which have a clip on 'lead' (for want of a better word) which you hold / put on your wrist....DD has one and she doesn't mind wearing it as she feels like she has her own little bag for her things and I can keep a hold of her when she doesn't want to hold my hand!!! We got ours in UK but am sure have seen them somewhere here - possibly Mothercare or maybe even one of the toy shops? yeah, they're better than the wrist things because they give better support if the lead needs to be yanked! Also, you'll probably want to be carrying your toddler in the main souk in Damascus. We went there in November and it was often so rammed as to be rather daunting for someone at knee level. Also, it's handy to avoid the kids who hand a balloon directly to the tourist child and then turn to the parents for money! Thanks for the tip - I am sure it's a valuable one!!!
