Hi ladies,

I was going to post this on the Kuwait site but just had a look over there and there is hardly any posting activity so hopefully I may have more success here. DH has just been offered the top job at one of the banks in Kuwait - professionally, its what he's been aspiring to do for most of his career and the package is really staggering. We visited last week for a couple of days and it is a different world from Dubai where we are very settled and have a fantastic lifestyle. I've got a really decent job in also and would have the luxury of not having to work (DH would also finish work by 6pm each day)..........but I really am reluctant to leave Dubai and move to Kuwait.

Does anyone else have experience of living there - I would be interested in any experiences that other ladies have had?

Sorry, but having visited for a long weekend and had a friend who lived there for about 4 years, it is on my list of places I would not relocate to, but it really depends upon what your lifestyle is like. Good luck with your decision.

I have lived in kuwait for many years (family is still there) and moved to dubai after marriage. As far as lifestyle is concerned, I agree that they are worlds apart. If you are not working there, getting a license is a problem for housewives , which means you are dependent on your husband or taxies for moving around. Life is slow and you might find it boring as you would be moving from dubai. Traffic is a mess. On a positive note, things like fuel, electricity and water are heavily subsidized, so they are quite cheap. Cars cost the same like in dubai. no security issues. Rents are cheaper. Private healthcare is fine. You can hope to save money there while living comfortably. The only thing really wrong about kuwait are the arrogant and rude locals and their police force.,Traffic law is not same for expats and locals and it really annoyed me when I was there. Can't comment on work culture as I did not experience it first hand but you can expect to find many locals in a bank as banking is their preferred profession apart from government sector. Apart from that, it would take time getting used to, but definitely manageable.
