Hi there! Anyone living in Motorcity and can give me an idea what it's like. DH and I were driving around there today and trying to decide between a 2 bedroom villa in the Springs or a 2 bedroom apartment in Motorcity. I've been to the Motorcity community website and I see ALOT of complaints about the EMICOOL system and bills, charges etc. Is this something I should worry about?

I loved the proximity to shops etc and the nice green walkways. I believe that the square footage of the 2 bedroom villa in Springs is about the same or even slightly smaller than a 2 bedroom apartment in Motorcity. We've got some large furniture so the bigger dining/living rooms would be helpful. Our budget is 75-80,000 since I'm not working so AR is out of the budget unfortunately.

Thanks for the replies ladies. That info does help, I guess we'll take a look and try to get the LL to pay the EMICOOL annual fee. I also like that the apartments come with white goods since ours are about 10 years old now and need replacing! We've got a LO on the way so the green areas will be nice to get out and walk around with the stroller. I also like the prenatal yoga at Exhale. Are there any buildings that you can recommend over others? Also where we live now we get a lot of food smells in the hallways of our building from other residents cooking - is this happening in your buildings too?

Hi there, we are thinking of moving to Motor City, although have inquiry about the pets. We have a small dog, are dogs permited in apartments??? is it by landlords discretion? thanks

DH and I really enjoy living here. We have a 3 year old DD as well so for us its perfect. To give you an idea of costs we have a three bed plus maids. Emicool is around 600 per month that is in the summer and in the winter we don't really have the air con on so it cost around 400 and thats including the service charge we pay. If you rent off Emirates NBD you will get a 24 hour maintenance contract included in your rental.

We really like Motor City - been in Uptown for about 2.5 years now. As you mentioned, it's great being near the shops and also the fact that the apartments come with white goods (well it was good for us as we didn't have any!). The public areas are really well maintained which is nice. There is very little traffic getting in or out, and the ease in getting to EK road, Umm Suqeim road etc. is pretty good. Emicool takes some getting used to (the annual charge...grrr) - if you can get the LL to pay the annual service charge that would make a big difference. I know some of them are now agreeing to this. I have friends in the Springs though who love it there too - I guess the only main differences are the location and the business...
