Firstly ladies I must apologise but being computer
challenged I haven't a clue about posting a link.
Maybe one of the more savey ladies could oblige if they
can find it.

On MSNBC today 3 people reported seeing a
child who looked very much like Maddie with
a married couple in Lei in India. A young American
tried to grab her form the couple ( reported to be French
and Belgian ) causing quite a stir and the police were
called. The couple are apparently being held pending DNA
results as they are adamant that it is their daughter.

I have searched high and low on BBC and other channels
but come up with a big 0.

On the google search I typed in Maddie McCann possible sighting
in India and the latest thread there says basically the same as
MSNBC.This search quotes Chandigarh Tribune.

Just wondered if anyone else had read these reports. Don't
want to get my hopes up yet but.......

Edna, I agree to a certain extent, but MMc had a distinctive eye which would make her more recognizable and how close would you need to get to a stranger's child to see it ??

How awful for the couple in India, having some stranger trying to grab their daughter :-( Yes, and nobody else seems to be saying this! It's just "Oh, it wasn't Madeleine after all, what a shame", without any consideration for the fact that a family has just been accused of kidnapping and experienced an attempt to forcibly separate them from their daughter by a complete stranger on the street who had no legal authority to do so. Would anybody here with children be cool about it if that happened to them? And I'm sorry, but the people who thought it *was* Madeleine, how could they be so sure? What evidence were they going by? The photograph of her taken when she was three? She'll be eight now, and the intervening years will have made a significant difference to the way she looks. And how do we know she hasn't had her hair dyed and cut differently? Ten out of ten for good intentions but minus several million for rational thinking. Yes very true EW I must admit the first thing that sprang to mind was I hoped that it was her. We are very quick to judge without the facts. I don't know what I would do in that situation, when you think you have recognised a missing child and they just walk away. What is the correct course of action ? Especially in a foreign country. The one big positive to come of this is that it has once again thrust the whole tragic saga back into the limelight

Most of the UK papers ran the story yesterday and twitter was going mad, but unfortunately the McCanns have made a statement to say it was not her at all. Another red herring, but at least people are still looking

To paste a link, all you have to do is copy the link from your browser and paste it in here! ;) If you do a search under her real name "Madeleine McCann", you will find related news articles, and also articles that say that the McCann's have said the girl in India is not Madeleine. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=10741635
