Hello ladies, may I please ask if anybody has any experience with maids from Kenya? We are seriously looking and an agency has offered us this option since we asked for Christian and English speaking. Previously we had a Phillipino maid (couple of years back) but that is not an option with the current situation of no new recruits from there and to be honest I was not very keen to go there again as we had quite an issue with attitude and "but my friend gets this and that" after we gave her day off and internet etc (first maid for us,wanted to treat her as I would want to be treated somehow it did not work). I know I cannot generalise but is there anything we should be aware of? I have given up on interviewing maids in Dubai already as it feels like they are interviewing us and the demands for salaries of minimum 2500Dhs... (we would not mind paying that for somebody who proves themselves good and is with us for a while but no way we are taking someone on for that) Any inside would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

Our maid is from Kenya. She is extremely well spoken, clean, and kind. She is pleasant and so far has proven herself trustworthy. We do pay her above the 2000/mth mark, so not less then what we would pay a philipina but she is worth it. edited by xmasbaby on 27/08/2014

Funny I read this… today at immigration, the officer recommended I get a kenyan maid. He said they were great helpers and that they spoke English well and many spoke more than one language… Sorry I personally have no experience with Kenyans, although my last maid was from Ethiopia and was a complete nightmare. Just my experience! I am sure there are great ones out there but this one has given me high blood pressure, cold sores and has stressed me out like crazy! Just get references and if its from an agency all the better! I have always gone thru an agency and had the best experiences. The one time I didn’t is this last one who is driving me nuts! Best of luck and please keep us posted on your experience as I am not sure how long I will last without a live in:) I am going the part time maid agency route and we will see how it goes from there. Im thinking it will either be the best or worst thing ever…lol
