Hi
Can anyone tell me if my maids husband is allowed to stay with her in the maids room? We live in Springs. He visits her over weekends, and so far it hasnt been a problem. We wouldnt mind it,but i am not sure if it is legal?

Just another point... Even if the maid and husband live together in their own apartment, please make sure they have a valid certified marriage license, because if she gets knocked up they can. Still wind up in jail if they don't have all the proper documents. It happened in the news here recently.

I understood that a maid's husband could not legally stay in your home at all unless he worked for and sponsored by you. I know some who sponsor wife as maid and husband as gardner so that they can live together legally in the maid room. I would tell the maid's husband to get an apt and then pay her extra to live out with him if they are not both working for you. Would be much safer for you with the way the laws are here. edited by momof3 on 13/07/2011

If they have legal marriage only. Since it is in your house, you must check if they have legal marriage before letting them live together. If they are not married legally you may be in problem with the Police.
