Has anyone used them to rent property here? I'm trying to secure an apartment with them and after all the bad things I've heard about agents - I want to be sure. Their website is a bit iffy too! Is it best to pay the property deposit by cheque or cash? TIA.

I only know Malik Burgers at Jumeirah Beach Park, lol :) :D :D Anyways, 1. ask for RERA registration number if the agent, and check on rera website. 2. give check not cash. get the photocopy with hand written ("received by" name, signature, stamp, date). they cannot demand cash. if they need cash they can go to the bank that issued your check and cash it, takes 3 minutes. 3. usually the deposit check is on the landlord's name not on the agent's name!!! only the agency fee is written to the agent's company name.

Yes I used Malik Properties a month or so ago when renting my apartment. No issues with them at all, they have an office in Tecom

Thank you. The agent is saying she will pay the deposit out of her own pocket until we can get the cash to her later this evening. She said she'd give us a receipt, it's difficult when we really want the apartment.

Check RERA they should be registered - get the broker number of the agent - check that on the rera website - and pay by cheque - photocopy the cheque and make sure you get a reciept - get the landlords passport/visa /title deeds- make sure they all match - if your making a cheque for the rent direct to the agent get their Power of Attorney- make sure its stamped ! x
