Apparantly not........the KHDA have to be contacted as she is registed in Grade 1 and will be then registered as a Grade 3 student so it will look as though she has missed a year even though they are just named differently.

yes if you go from ib to brit or brit to us curriculums they are out by 1 year, and here the MoE wont allow you to jump from 1 to 3 for eg, even though it should be age appropriate, there are alot of children out of year, i know in abu dhabi if you want to go to the age appropriate year then you will have to be assessed by the MoE.
Your daughter will be fine academically as year 1 in IB is the same as year 2 BC, however according to the KHDA even if a student changes curriculum they can only go up one grade (from year 1 IB to year 2 BC). From what I've heard the school needs to let the KHDA know that your DD has passed the assessment and then they'll let the school know if she can go into her age appropriate class or not.
Don't worry if the school have accepted your DD then I'm sure KHDA will be ok with it too.

Hope you ladies can please help me.
My DD has been accepted for Year 3 into the British Curriculum for September after passing the assessment. The school have just contacted me to say that because she is moving from an IB school which she is currently graded as Grade 1 they will have to contact the KHDA to see of this is acceptable and if not she will have to go back a year. I am really confused as I thought that Grade 1 in IB is the equivalent to Grade 2 BC.......Can anyone please shed some light on this for me.
Many Thanks
