Hi, my elderly female cat has gone missing for the last few days. She is about 11 years old and very small and thin pretty looking cat, predominantly white with black ears, tail and other black marks on her body, also with a pink nose. We recently moved from Saheel Arabian Ranches to Motorcity. She is very timid and not an adventurer any more so we're worried she's confused and lost. The majority of her time is spent on our lap or the end of the bed wanting to be stroked. She was very relaxed and happy here and showed no signs of stress at moving. She is chipped but to our old house address in UK so I don't know how or if they check the chip and make any effort to trace the owners? Please keep an eye out in Motorcity (around the townhouse/Claverton House area) and across to the Ranches (either Saheel or Palmera) in case she's wandering back to one of our old houses. Our children and other cats are really missing her, as am I as she's been with me since I rescued her when she was a kitten. If she was leaving home to die, would we notice anything or where would she go? Far away or close by? I can't believe she'd do that rather than stay with us though? If you have any information please call 0505445279, I'll happily give a reward for finding her. Thank you xxxx

Oh Rachel I'm so so pleased for you. It's the best feeling ever isn't it getting your pet back and how amazing that it's on your birthday too! Enjoy the next few days together - she'll need lots of cuddles and lots of special dinners! Thanks for posting I've been on quite a few times to see if there was an update - fantastic to hear another positive ending.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for your replies, especially you Clairehdp. I've pounded the streets and done everything possible over the last week. Today is my Birthday and surprise surprise the young Indian lad that cleans the area knocked on the door to say he'd found her!!! She was hiding under a car in a car park. She's light as a feather and probably hasn't eten a thing, covered in car oil and dirt but she seems ok!! Can't believe it.... Best Birthday present ever!! So to anyone else.... Don't give up hope and offer a reward to the security, maids gardeners and cleaners in the area.... They may just find your pet!! Xx nice to have a happy ending. This is indeed a perfect birthday gift ! And what a lovely human angel who brought your pet back :)

Hi Rachel, I hope you find your cat. Our dog sometimes sneaks out if we leave the garage door open and it's a terrible feeling when you find an animal gone.

Just another thought - if you bought her from UK with her UK chip it would have been read coming into the country and will be on her export/import details. Has she not been seen by a vet since she arrived in Dubai? If she has been contact your vet as it will be on her file there, According to the man at the municipality place in Mushrif they scan for a chip and if the animal is chipped they call the vets. You can contact the chip people and for a small fee - i htink it was 10.00 you can change the address details - I didn't do that when we lost our cat but I have done it since moving back and we are in a new location so our new address is now linked to her chip here in the UK. so don't worry - if she's found and is found to be chipped the vets in Dubai do check with each other to see if they can track down the owner and if she's been to a vets since arriving in Dubai she will be on their system. Still hope you find her soon xx

Just thought of something else...... We got the security guards to hand out a picture to all the gardeners and I got AR security to give a picture to all the bike patrol guys on AR. another thing I did was do a leaflet for the housemaids and my housemaid handed it out - this one had a reward. I just felt that if I networked someone might just see her. Good luck! xxx

rachel this happened to us and our 13 year old cat just disappeared into thin air. I tried everything. I leaflet dropped (got lots of calls and would rush around like a mad woman but no results).put a picture up in Le Marche and Spinneys, phoned and e mailed her picture to all Dubai vets, went to the pet pound by Mushrif Park and my husband went to the Sharjah pet market......nothing. We did midnight walks with the cat biscuits and my every waking hour was spent looking for her. After 10 days we decided she had gone and we could do no more - that night my DH said he would have one last look and half an hour later came back into the villa with her in his arms....... She was at the end of our road. I think she got out and got so completely confused as all the houses look the same - and just had no idea where to go to get back. Everyone told me she would be close by and they were absolutely right. She was a bit thin but had definitely been fed. Don't give up hope - they are hardy and I bet you she's done the same - just got confused and needs to hear your voice to get her back. Pound the streets close by and shake the biscuits! Ask people close by to check their gardens. Good luck - I hope you have a good result like we did - I know just how you are feeling and it's awful. big hug xxxx
