I've seen quite a few recommends in previous threads for places where I can have a name necklace made. I've seen someone though whose necklace had a tiny turquoise stone in it which was lovely. Does anyone have one like that and know where they are from? TIA x

I've just been down to carrefour to clarify my mistake over the price. For anyone who is interested, at their jewellery counter they will do a yellow gold name necklace in Arabic or English letters for 995 aed and this includes a gemstone of some description. So I was wrong about the silver, and right about the price. The price still sounds high though in comparison to what other people are paying.

Does anyone know if theres anywhere in Dubai mall that does them, i need to a few to take back for hols. There used to be in the gold souk-but sadly that is all being closed down and virtually no shops are left No way! I never liked it in there mind, always too dark, and once inside could never get out! Thanks. I know-they asked us to fill in a survey about why it wasn't a success-apparently the maze like design didn't help-plus there was no plumbing in the centre for rest rooms or cafes-sad all the same-it could have been good Ahhh, interesting! I wonder what it will be turned into, it's a large retail space that needs to generate revenue.

Had a silver tear drop shaped silver one done for my daughter at the kiosk upstairs in Mercato-also a silver heart shaped one with my husband and my name entwined-Boy Wonder is after a sword one!-bigger ones were 200 dhs-smaller ones around 120 from memory-what we liked was that the Arabic calligraphy on them was really well done.

I had silver ones in arabic made by Cara. Some had 9 letters in the name but he still charges the same - AED 100.

Thanks AussiePup and Tiki. Actually popped into G&D Park last night. Gosh Shamat - silver from AED995? The silver ones I saw last ranged from AED125 to AED220 for 5 letters. For an English name though so maybe the Arabic is more expensive? I was pleasantly surprised though as they all can do it in about 2-3 days (quicker if really urgent). Happy shopping! (PS: I found the place I was originally looking for that uses turquoise stones in their jewellery. Really pretty but they only do gold which is out of my budget on this occasion. Pass by sometime though - it's the gift store in Media Rotana Al Barsha.)

gold at the moment is very expensive. The last price I got for a name braclet was 600 AED. They take for normal name 2 days. Don't know how long for adding a gemstone. Interesting that this should come up today, as I've been considering one of these too, just a plain one, no crystals/gemstones. Carrefour do silver ones "from 995AED" but I don't know how this price compares. Has anyone had a gold one made recently and if so, how much did it cost? I'm guessing they are more expensive if you have a long name?

I've had one done for my daughter, copying mine by Cara and it very nice and good quality. A friend also asked them to do a special pendant with crystals included and it's beautiful. Just go with a picture , a drawing, and speak to them, you should be happy of the result.
