My granny is doing her yearly tour of the world and is stopping in dubai for two weeks. I want to take her to new places that she hasn't seen before. However, I'm having difficulty thinking of new attractions. She doesn't like to go out during the day as it is too hot for her. And preferably I'd like to take her places with not too much walking (or at least a pleasant walk).

She has been to all the malls, museums, atlantis, madinat jumeirah...

She hasn't been to JBR since it was expanded, so I'm planning an afternoon over there. However I'm not sure which cafés there would appeal to older ladies. (She is in her late 80's) Any ideas?

Also planning city walk and box park (I have never been to either) would these be appropriate outings? Any recommendations on cafés or restaurants there?

Does anyone have any other ideas of nice places to visit?

Thanks so much

Thank you ladies for all the wonderful ideas and tips. You all really helped so much, I was having so much trouble thinking of activities and places to take her. It's unbelievable how much energy my gran has and she wakes up so early in the morning. My brother jokes around that she can only fund her yearly trips because she is a couch surfer, and she misunderstood him and thought he was implying that she's an actual surfer.

Has she done any boat trips? Water taxi from the creek to the Marina? Creek dinner cruise? Maybe an overnight trip to Abu Dhabi - the grand mosque is spectacular and they have lots of lovely art galleries. Have you done a desert safari? The platinum heritage tours are super and aren't dune bashing rallies, they are in vintage land rovers driving sedately through lovely desert - if she can bear to get up early the morning is beautiful, but so is the evening. Go granny!

Laudree or Godiva at The Beach on JBR, both grown up places for tea and cake with beach views. You could walk along to the beach from that end to the beginning of the beach mall (towards Hilton) and take in the entirety of the new development. How about Ripe Market in the evening?

Good for your Granny! I'm impressed with her world tour. Boxpark will be quite hot for walking along but they do have funky 'taxis' so if you walk to one end you can get the little golf cart back the way. Also, be careful as all the crossings aren't quite safe yet as there's still work to do. Cafe Marimekko (across from EPPCO station) is a lovely Cafe with beautiful surroundings and the food is lovely. At Citywalk The Silver Fox is beautiful inside and serves lovely food. Service also excellent. Italian restaurant (owned by BICE) is also really nice. The blue mosque behind Park n Shop on Al Wasl Rd is beautiful and you can drop in any morning after prayer time and either wander round yourselves or someone will show you round. They provide abayas and you are allowed to take photos inside. 2 weeks is quite a long time - could you pop into Oman for a few days? There's a new hotel at Nizwa which I've heard is amazing. Have a lovely time with your Granny.

I hope when I'm in my 80's I'll be doing a yearly world tour! Third vote for The Farm. They also do dinner and it should be cool enough to look at the beautiful gardens even if you still eat inside. I haven't been myself but a couple of people have told me that the butterfly garden at Miracle Garden is amazing. It's indoor and air con'd although I'm not sure if it's open all year round.
