You might remember our huge competition and survey from earlier this year? We gave away two return flights to the Seychelles to our lucky winner!?

Well, thanks to everyone who participated in our survey we managed to get some fantastic insights to how expat life is for many of our readers nowadays... And let's say, our expat population has altered just as much as Dubai's landscape since our site was launched.

We had 8,808 women take part in our big survey, and the results are really interesting!

The main thing is that the profile of women reading EW has changed tremendously - gone are the days of Jumeirah Jane, it seems, and only 63% of our new demographic are married now.

What else does the results reveal?

  • We all spend too much times in malls.... shopping....
  • Less than half of our mums have given birth here in Dubai
  • We all love the high standards of healthcare in Dubai
  • We still think schooling is TOO expensive
  • More women have moved to Dubai for their own careers, not their partners
  • 94% of us are in rented accommodation... Why is nobody buying?
  • We're all bargain hunters when it comes to food, rent and deals etc.
  • We all still prefer to use public transport
  • We're BIG on take-aways and deliverys
  • Carrefour is the expat's first choice for groceries
  • ... and lastly, as much as we might moan about pricing, Emirates is still our #1 airline!
  • Do you agree/disagree with any of the above statements? We'd love to hear your thoughts on the results!

Wow! When I used the Expat Woman site in 2014/2015, it was packed with users posting non-stop. Now, it seems that posters are hard pressed to even get one response. I think it’s time for an Expat Woman revamp to drum up business/support. Maybe an app, more meet up/socialization activities, interesting/enticing blog posts at the forefront with comments enabled, SnapChat account with guest “takeovers” who are doing fun things or traveling places, etc. It’s time for a change! P.S. I would love to be at the forefront of this change! :)
