I will be given birth next month, and I wonder how to apply for my baby's canadian passport or even birth certificate without citizenship proof?. I cannot find the proper information. Anyone can help please?. Thank you.

we did it for our DS last year. After you get the birth records done get the baby's photograph done. You'll need pictures for the passport, visa and citizenship card (they are all different sizes). Then go to the consulate. We had all our documents with us (passport, our birth certificates, etc). Fill out the passport and citizenship card forms. Our DS has his passport good for two years and we got it within 20 days. The citizenship card takes about a year to get. I have to call Canada to find out how much longer we have to wait for our little one's as it hasn't come in yet but it also hasn't been a full year yet. Don't do the stupid thing we did and get the forms from offline because apparently they aren't the correct up to date ones.... don't ask me why but that's our government for you.

It can be done at the consulate. You will need to provide proof of citizenship of you or your spouse, entitling your child for the same. Assuming the child was born here, you'll need to first apply for citizenship under the new rules (which will be automatic assuming either parent is Canadian) and then apply for their passport. The consulate will however, issue a temporary passport if they have no alternative travel document.

Hi and congrats, I got Canadian passports for all three of my children here through the Canadian Consulate, who’s “citizenship proof” are you referring to?
