Thank you... I plan to go to the Safa Community School Open Morning this coming Monday... I've checked the info on the website and the ethos and values of this school and I am liking what I read!
JazzyJames - I think Safa could be a great fit for you. (Either of the Safa schools!)
We are very happy there. It is more academic than in the past under the previous Head but still very inclusive and all the kids are very well rounded with great behavior and lots of activities. There is also a really great mix of nationalities.
Worth a look........
Actually I am a Nord parent and I am starting to wonder whether I have made the right choice regarding the most suitable school for my child. My child is very quiet and unassuming and I feel she is a little swamped in what is becoming a large school. As it is a selective school, high emphasis is placed on achieving and getting good grades - this is of course important but can become overwhelming for some children - mine being one of them. I also find her confidence is taking a hit. She is very bright and achieving to a good level however she feels school is not particularly fun nor inspiring. I am currently looking to move to a more nurturing child- centered school as I feel this type of environment is more suitable. I also feel an inclusive school is more representative of society as a whole and this is important for all children to experience and understand - too much competition at an early age can be detrimental!
I do not wish to put you off applying to Nord Anglia as the previous post suggests parents are happy there - my child is not.
Good luck with your search .... I wish we had visited the school before we arrived in Dubai last Autumn but we didn't have a chance and therefore jumped straight in!
I'm a very happy parent from Safa private and due to the family moving we are now at Safa Community School.
With out hesitation I can honestly say the warm helpfulness of the staff, the bonus of not having to move my children form one school to another due to the Safa Community School, Secondary, growing and the in-depth lengths that all the staff go too , in order to make sure you are happy and the children are happy, is in my opinion, outstanding!!!!!
I agree with the other ladies too... I cant see many people giving you a negative opinion of the school their children attend, but hopefully all the opinions you receive are constructive.:)
It's a hard post to comment on as I'm a Nord parent and feel very happy with my choice and I suspect anyone else that posts will be the same (based on the school they have chosen or, on these boards at least I have come to think...the school they work at!)
I did take a look at my crystal ball in making the choice and based it on their experience, but...that's just me.
I don't know any unhappy Nord parents and none have left to other schools (apart from one in FS1 who posts on here) while many have moved over from other schools, so that I think means something but again...that's just one indicator.
I'd go and look and ask if i where you as Crystal Ball gazing is always tricky!
There are lots of threads about these schools already Katalist if you do a search. As a parent in Kings Al Barsha ( Primary and Secondary school not high school, its BC) We have been very happy this year and delighted with the progress our children have made. Staff are excellent. As an ex Safa Private School parent I can say the school was very warm and nurturing but not overly academic. Hopefully more people will give you personal feedback/ facts without being negative about the school they are not actually in :)
