katjaU: yes, I've been waiting the mall to open but didn't hear anything like that so sometimes the international press knows better...

Probably because people had their bath in the pool, since there was or is no water in the apartments since Sunday. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/dubai/8697231/Trouble-in-paradise-as-plumbing-problems-hit-Dubais-Palm-island.html

Does anyone know what happened to the pool? Why did it turn swamp green?

No idea why they changed maintenance crew. We only moved in 5 weeks ago and first we knew they had changed was through the posters in the lifts. Not a great way to communicate as I would think those on the lower floors may not use the lifts.

I know ... it's a comedy of errors. Do you know why they changed the maintenance crew? My experience with them was quite good. Have a good nap and hopefully we won't be woken up again at 4 in the morning with loud speakers as though we are living in a prison cell!

scpilkington I am feeling your pain. My DH phoned maintenance last night to see what time the water would be back on. He was told it would be between 11.00-1.00am. Decided to stay up to have shower, do washing & put dishwasher on as we are flying back to the UK tonight and didn't want to risk it being off for another day. It eventually came back on at 12.30 so stayed up till about 2.00. 4.00 the fire alarm blasts out not once but twice. That said the maintence of the building has just changed hands. The water has also been off on several occasions during the last couple of weeks and think as maintenance was changing hands they were just patching it up. Think the new crew are possibly trying to fix the problem correctly. The water is now back on so going away for a long soak in the tub :) and hopefully the lack of sleep will help me nod off on the flight tonight.

Thanks for your response. But forget about the pool at Oceana and do not get fooled. There was NO WATER in all buildings at Oceana and the Restaurant for TWO DAYS. On top of that, they do not know how to operate the emergency loud speaker in the building that announces fires in the building. So at 4 a.m. you get a loudspeaker throughout the building AND in each unit announcing a fire in English, Arabic and German, repeatedly. My 4 year old was in tears and hysterical - woken up in the middle of the night with this loud noise. Some how they turn it off after 20 minutes and then it trips up again and then it takes an hour to turn it off. Try living with noise, no water, announcements in your home at 4 a.m. and see if the nice pool makes it all better. Oceana is a nightmare!!!

Ok in all seriousness, if the owners have the relevant permits for the renos and are doing so within daylight hours within the time limits noted in the community rules then I am afraid you might just have to live with it and pray they get the job done quickly. Ask your mgr for a copy and see what you find, if any violations then can possibly take some stronger action.

I would be pretty grateful to live in Oceana, regardless of the renos! Have you SEEN the pool area?! :)

We moved to the Oceana building in the Palm just a few months ago. Our neighbor directly above us has started remodeling his home and when we approached the building management to discuss the fact that we have jackhammer drilling all day and that we have no home in effect we were told that the building has sold the Penthouse level BARE. We were told that the construction will continue on those buildings as soon as the owners get their act together. Is there any suggestion anyone has on how to control this situation? Is the only option to move out of Oceana until the penthouse levels are completed? How are the people in these huge buildings to live when there is unbearable noise all day? Does anyone know of any protection provided? Please help!! And please be aware before you move into OCEANA!!!!
