What I do with visitors if they want to go to AD is
• Grand mosque
• Walk by the cornish
• Emirates Palace
• Heritage village (for me the best part)
• Marina mall is there’s still time left
The souq busybee2 is referring to is the new Central Market. Went there the other day - there is underground parking. The building itself is very nice, lots of wood and coloured glass windows. More and more shops are opening, there are a couple of places selling spices, a good perfume shop selling french perfume [in plain bottles, supposed to be the real stuff and does smell like it!'>, a few jewellery shops. Lovely shisha cafe on the roof, and a few nice places to eat.
yep but its nothing compared to what was there before. if you park inside the car park its free if you purchase something in the shops. kitsch cupcakes are there yum!

thanks ladies..
do the roads in AD have good direction boards and all? Dubai is good.. Sharjah has pathetic road signs!
ad is pretty good for sign boards, but its not difficult to find your way around.
havent they recently revamped the al meena souq? i'm sure i read about it somewhere. we loved going to the "old" souq so i assume it'll be even better now that it's upgraded a bit.
revamped the old souq at al meena nope, its still there you mean the iranian market. i am thinking you are meaning the souq that burnt down years ago off airport road, and they have been rebuilding for a long time, they have finished the first phase, but its just like a shopping centre now!

You can have a drink at the Emirates Palace & go to the Emirates Heritage Village (closed on Sundays) located near Marina Mall.

we're planning a day trip to the capital from Dubai and want to know apart from Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque what are the other places to see. We were thinking of spending the day in AD and spending the sunset at Jabel Hafeet in Al Ain. Please recommend.
