This thread has become truly pointless. The FACTS: The little boy is safe The mother is truly thankful to you all for the willingness you showed to help find her child even though he was already safe and she wanted me to tell you that. She doesn't post on EW so had no way of communicating that he was found so she called me as I posted my mobile number earlier in case the OP wanted me to help in any way. The OP acted in good faith and did what she could to keep us updated and we should be thankful to her for her concern in this matter..as is the mother of the child. Everything else on this thread is irrelevant *like* and well said......

Thank you to those who understand and see the imbalance if I didn't post. The majority (there was another thread too) seemed concerned and willing to help. Coming together to try and do whatever it took. As for the critics, they don't bother me , they will be upset about something else tomorrow, so long as the little boy is safe that is all that matters. Sophie, Its doesnt matter what we write on here, we will always get some kind of back lash, lolyou been out on the town again sals? hehe No Im being good, havent got my partner in crime, lol

THe young lad has been found safe and well, thats got to be brilliant news all round. Lets all make a mental note, and keep all the kids safe and from harms way. The little boy should never had been left unattended anyway, but I dont want to harp on about that.

i've never once said i didn't think you should have posted the information. You acted in good faith, i haven't said you didn't. Just a shame you weren't kept better informed, but not your fault. Ok, I understand you better. I am also a mother and was up until 3 worried myself. My friend knows the mother and knew the child. She tried to call her many times during the night and drove to her house from DSO earlier today and said no one was around. I even posted that. The whole thing that got me the most was he had last been seen in his front yard. There is always a risk in posting without all the facts but it is worth the risk if he was still missing and someone did see sow thing to help. If there was something sinister than every minute is crucial. So I put it out there. After my relief that the child was safe we both wondered why we weren't informed but you know if I had lost my child for 2 hours and even after I found him I would probably still be really shaken up. i don't think there's a mother here that can't relate to that... and they probably asked loads of people to put the word round - don't suppose you can expect them to remember to tell all of them when he was found !!!

I read the original post this morning and kept updating to see if he had been found and was ready to go out looking myself if a photograph was posted. However, it turns out that there was some miscommunication and the little blighter was tucked up in bed all along. I certainly don't have any issue with Sophia for her original post; as a mother of 3, I would rather err on the side of caution, if it meant that people in the area checked their pools and garages, its surely not such a bad thing. Also, it does give one a bit of a jolt as to the fact that we are not living in a bubble and must take care of our children and the ones around us.

what time did you first post that he was missing ? eta, never mind, i looked... so you started the thread at 11.35 - 5 hours after he had been found. edited by Sue62 on 14/01/2011 Your point? Regardless I had no idea he was found. As far as I was told he was still missing. Im not going to apologize for trying to help a child that was missing. you're doing really well to keep on coming back in order reply to your critics. most people would have delivered a well deserved get stuffed to the screen long before now, even tho some of the comments regarding the thread are justifiable. i think your thread illustrated the benefits of the internet as well as the draw backs of it, but the bottom line is a child was missing and you tried to help.

He had been missing for 2 hours which included a helicopter search from the police I hope people like you don't discourage someone else from posting if they need help. I have said over and over again that the info was vague and I was a removed party. I got the emails and the phone texts called the person who I received them from and was told the mother was very worried and wanted the word spread. That is exactly what I did and what I hope someone would do for me or anyone I cared about. There was a police report so it was a legitamate post. No one told me when the boy was found

Am glad that the child is safe and sound, Well done Sophie for raising the awareness. Better to be a bit over the top and have facts slightly wrong than indifferent so ignore the rest, I will ;)
