Not criticising the OP, who was entirely open about how few facts she had, but I tend to agree that a lot of fuss and worry (understandable, but out of proportion to the situation) was kicked up on this thread long after the child had been found. There were offers of impromptu search parties, psychics and radio broadcasts being discussed when the little boy was at home in his bed. I'm not even sure how much use it will be to people with children of their own, as I can't imagine people are lax about keeping an eye on them in any case, and a child unfastening a gate, like a child going missing in a mall, can happen anywhere, and under the best supervision. I think Mrs Mean has a point.

You did the right thing. We will all be that little bit more aware of where our kids are after reading this . Mrs mean is just being mean -take no notice. If I had a problem I'd love for you to help me! I bet we all hug our little ones a little bit longer tonight. edited by Clairehdp on 14/01/2011

So relieved to hear that he has been been found safe and healthy. That is the main thing. Sophia I'm sure many will agree that had it been our little boy who had disappeared we would have been grateful for your care and commitment to helping get the word out. And to this community for wanting to get out there and [b'>do[/b'> something. So many people these days are stand-offish and reluctant to get involved. As someone looking in from the outside (ie not in Dubai yet), beyond the horror of thinking someone's LO had disappearred, it was so heartwarming to see how everyone banded together to support a family they had [b'>never [/b'>even met! As Vodkapops pointed out, it was a good wakeup call to keep our eyes on our kids regardless of what city or country we're in.

I clearly said in numerous posts that I did not know the family. I was a third party. I constantly called the only connection I knew and relayed any info I had. I have explained all of this -if you would have read you would know. I posted out of concern and good nature in hopes of helping. I could not have been any more clearer . Any argument with you would be useless anyway edited by sophia07 on 14/01/2011 you did indeed post that you had minimum facts; hadn't spoken to the parents and if anyone saw a 5 year old in red shorts called Paul to call the police... Dont think you did anything wrong - and if anything made a lot of parents (not me - dont have any) re-evaluate how they keep an eye on their children - don't feel bad..... you seemed to act with good intent.

Sophia07 - You did the right thing by posting. It has been a reality check for all of us parents. We cannot afford to be complacent in any part of the world. It only takes a second for them to disappear from your line of vision. Am so glad there has been a happy ending.

I was up most of the night thinking about my children. even though I dont know the family it is just a horrible feeling. a small part of me was hesitent to post with such minimal information and not even beinbg in contact with the family. I know it is a very gutwrenching scenerio. But i thought even with such vague info that maybe , just maybe someone may see him or something that made them feel uncomfortable enough to do a double take. the hassle of being mistaken is worth it if it saves a child. I also wanted to put it out there as every minute is crucial in every case of a missing child. just hoping for the best and this is a huge reminder that we should never let our gaurd down and we dont live in a bubble sheltered from the evils in the world Here is one and as another poster said the alternative to do nothing if there was something sinister is worse

I have minimal info as I do not know the parents personally . A good friend of mine does and she is not on this forum so I am hoping that even with such little info something might come out. As of oover an hour ago there still was no sign of him. He has been missing since about 430pm. My friend said he kept to himself a lot and was a very shy 5 year old so she can't imagine him just walking up or being friendly to anybody. He went missing near the Choitrums on Al Wasl road. If I understand correctly (could be wrong) he was last seen playing in front of his villa. He is Brittish. Yes I am referring to you. In the above post, posted at 12.30am, you said that as of an hour ago there was still no sign of him. However Freckles1 has spoken to the parents, who advise that the little boy was only missing for 2 hours? The child went missing at 4.30pm, therefore he was home safe and sound 5/6 hours prior to your post! I am not looking to create an argument with you but situations like these strike fear into the hearts of every Mum. I have not been able to go out today for watching EW for updates and have been worried sick for this family. I am very happy to hear he is safe and well.

The boy's mother called me an hour ago to say he has been found. He was missing for two hours and they called the police and a police helicopter was sent out. She wants me to thank you all for your offers of help and your prayers. Thank you or posting this information Freckles1. I really do wish people would get their facts correct before posting these sort of things. I have been worried sick thinking about this little boy and what may have happened to him. Mrs.mean If your referring to me I could not be any more clearer about how little I knew. I wanted to put it out there. What facts did I get wrong?! I hope your post does not ever discourage someone else from posting if another child goes missing.

As far as I know he was playing in the garden and managed to open the gate. I don't know any more than that

The most important thing is he is safe. I am curious as to how it happened. As it can work as a preventive measure. I will never forget when I went to the Radission gingerbread making event I lost my 3 for nearly 20 minutes. It was horrible. We finished the house and we both went to get it wrapped. I was holding her hand. When I handed over house in seconds she was gone. If anyone was there you know what a massive crowd there was when Santa came. Elbow to elbow. I was surprised at how lax security was. "oh she'll turn up" don't worry, blah blah. I was running around everywhere. Going from security to security. And everyone asked me where my "nanny" was and seem shocked I did not bring one. It was only my daughter and myself . I was looking for a microphone at that point. There was an older man in a suit with a name tag , figured he was a manger. Just as I was telling him to get me a microphone and LOCK the doors a lady who was behind me on the line showed up and she she took off to a playroom in the back with her children. The manger was very concerned and willing but I was surprised how lax everyone else was here. I have to say I felt like a horrible horrible mother.

There are police in western society that do use them When I worked in law enforcement we did look for a body based on the word of a psychic. Dug a big hole, I mean a really big hole, and found nothing. No big surprise to me. But sometimes you don't know if the person is psychic or has real and relevant information on a crime, so you have to follow up regardless. umm - not sure that they would be used here; bearing in mind that fortune tellers; tarot readers etc are all illegal... Am pleased the boy has been found :)
