Dh just told me he had phone call today from Emirates Post advising that we could have a free trial of post delivery to our door from October to December....... Then he is also told that after the end of this year the PO Boxes at the Ranches are being removed and that if we want to continue with post delivered to our door it will cost dhs.750 per year! Our alternative is to change our PO Box to Al Quoz, Al Barsha or Silicon Oasis.
Gits!! We only had this PO BOx since last year and it is perfect for us, changed all our contact details etc.
Just another way to get more money from expats.........

I'm fuming about this as well and I had a similar call from empost. As I understood it though they will install a mail box at your house and deliver mail there 3 times a week for 700 dhs a year. But how does that work when you move or if you own a house but rent it out? OK for us as owner occupiers but I can't get my head round the complications. I'm right miffed as I've only had this po box for a year at Ranches and it is very convenient and works really well. Why mess with a system that is working?? $$$$'s of course, story of Dxb edited by cushion on 10/07/2011

about Dhs.220 i think cant remember exactly...... Thats so cheeky to take it away and charge so much more. Anyway, who has a post box, so somebody has to be in to receive it? Silly if you ask me. Bet they will charge you if they try to deliver and nobody is home and they need to come back!

about Dhs.220 i think cant remember exactly...... That sounds about right. I don't have mine in the ranches, I decided to get one in Jebel Ali so I could call on my way to work and I am glad I did now. I can't believe they would get rid of the ones in the ranches, I would have thought there would be a waiting list for them? Yes, I asked when we moved in and was told no point as list was so long.. Nearest boxes in al barsha..
