Hi, I have a prescription from a doctor in Dubai which I can't fill. Have called around 10 pharmacies. Anyone know of a particular pharmacy that is particularly good for controlled drugs here?

in my experience City will fill outside prescriptions but at a hugely inflated cost. American Hospital will only fill their own prescriptions. (EXample: last time we had to do this the meds we needed cost 100AED at American, but 500AED at City) For us if we have to resort to them, it works out cheaper having a consultation and getting the prescription! The Pharmacy that was next to Dubai Community Health Centre on Beach Road was extremely good at filling controlled drugs prescriptions, however since DCHC has moved recently maybe they don't stock as much.... The big Life Pharmacy on Al Wasl is good too as a previous posted commented. ETA: the meds I'm talking about above weren't actually controlled, just needed keeping in a fridge! We've always managed to get controlled meds (of the anti-depressant variety) from the pharmacies above. edited by october on 11/02/2013

Have you tried the pharmacies at City and American Hospital... I was under the impression these would only give you the drugs if prescribed by the same hospital (American / city). I had a script filled by City pharmacy about 18 months ago that wasn't prescribed by them, so unless they have changed it should be ok. Maybe call them first to make sure. Life Pharmacy on Al Wasl Road - the big 24hr one. My son needs a narcotic perscription filled every month and this is the only pharmacy I've found which holds stock.
