Thanks ladies, I am being offered a commercial leasing position on purely commission with no basic. I am pondering on this based on issues like the first couple months being zero which scares me. I am not averse to the work or anything just new to the field so dont know what to expect :S
i would steer clear of commercial leasing -
well I wouldnt quite agree.....i run an interior design company and we apy out quite a fair bit ( as additional commision) to RE Agents who rent commercial properties as those are the people who need interior design services......so they usually earn a double whammy of commision.
I agree with you about the double whammy - we use various companies through relocation specialists and also furniture companies especially for bigger properties and the commission can be good but I wouldn't rely on commercial leasing for my main income - especially if i was commission only ...

Hey pooja,
most companies are commission based with a 50/50 split on deals. Its a great job but you will only reap what you sew.. the more hours you put in the more money you take home.. that is if you have got what it takes..Not everyone is cut out for it.. and it can be tough but it can also be very rewarding.. If you have children, you need to have a good support network around you and be super organised..
Its very very busy with full on days..
salary is based on your own ability to keep your clients with you and match them to a property!! If you are GOOD, you will earn a lot more than your average 9-5 role..!!
deb hh
some of us are salaried .. most are commission only .. basic ranges from 2500 - 5000 a month with a commission split off 50% of the 5% agency fee or less if your salaried, Some of us get a petrol allowance of AED500 - most get nothing for petrol - some don't even get their phone paid for - some get to use the company car ... for a monthly charge of 1000 dirham .... for what its worth ......
some work off the agency list of available properties .. the good ones hunt property down for their clients and get paid good money .. they will also earn off a referral - you do a good job - word gets passed around = if your rubbish - your soon found out ...
expect to earn anything from 15,000 on a bad month aed to untold amounts .....
fantastic job - NEVER done it before (Key account manager in the uk).. I would recommend it .. great if your a people person - listen to your clients needs and match them and manage your paperwork and be honest
its all about negotiation ....;)

A curious question, what are salary ranges for Property consultants/ agents for some of the bigger companies in the UAE like Better Homes and House Hunters?
