My friends daughter was studying overseas and was out of the country more than 6 months. On her arrival she was taken off to a room by immigration and questioned. Not a fun experience for her. Apparently the visa should have been cancelled.

Does anyone have any first hand experience (not speculation, thank you) with this? I am on a freezone visa and have been out of the country more than 6 months (with my employer's agreement). Apparently the visa is invalid now. Should I get a visit visa to return?
