Hi,

I am moving to Dubai in the next few weeks and need some help figuring out where to live. I will be working out near Jebel Ali way and will involve travel to Abu Dhabi. I have narrowed it down to the Marina, JLT and Tecom areas. I am single with no dependants and am looking for apartments that have underground parking, pool and gym and easy access to SZR. I would like a 2 bedroom apartment but don't know if my budget (60k) will stretch that far so a 1 bed apartment with lots or storage and space would also be good. Can anyone recommend good buildings/towers in these areas? Also any good agents that may be able to help with my search.

Thanks.

I will have a word with my security guard and friends to see if they know if any are empty Most of the photos for apartments here are of poor quality. Easier to take pictures of the pool and fountains as they dont have to gain access to the building How many bedrooms? cheques, budget etc? I got mine through Dubizzle after years of paying 3-5,000AED to agents who did SWEET F.A i now would only deal with a landlord ... Will keep you posted Excellent. My budget is 60K payable in 2-3 cheques. Would love a 2 bed, but I really don't think I will get one for this price so a 1 bed with plenty of space will be fine as well. It would also be good to deal direct with a landlord instead of an estate agent - I very much agree that most of them do SFA and things seem to take 10 times longer to be dealt with as opposed to when you let the landlord know directly. Thanks heaps for doing this, will hopefully mean I don't need to spend ages trying to find somewhere and manage to find somewhere that is problem free.

Hi Chillax I live in Turia ( Nandos is attached to it) No problems whatsoever i love it I have alot of friends in Ghozlan and they look nice. I will ask them which are the nicer buildings and come back to you I come from a small village in the UK so The Greens is as close to home as i can get. Low rise buildings and trees! Alot of people like the Marina and it is nice but a little to built up for me. Thanks for this. I have had a look at the pictures they put up of the apartments and they're all a bit rubbish! Most of the pictures are of the pool and of the fountains and not actually what the inside of the apartment looks like. Which is not very helpful for me.

Ice cream and cupcakes:) Sounds like a fantastic reason to move to the Greens! louisedvs - if you don't mind me asking what building are you in and does it have any problems? I have looked on Dubizzle and the ones that keep coming up there are thayal, dharfra and ghozlan - are these any good? I have friends who are currently in Discovery Gardens and aren't happy with it so are looking to move out when their lease is up, from what they have experienced I am more than happy to give that area a miss. The Greens is a good area as well and will be looking in there too. My friends have told me that different buildings vary in quality depending on when they were built and who built them and as a result some have whole building issues eg mold, ac not working that is never resolved and estate agents being estate agents (ie dodgy) won't disclose this information to you. I would like to avoid ending up in one of these buildings. If I could rent direct from a land lord and avoid agency fees - well that would be just brilliant! The Greens is great. I have lived all over and it is my favourite place so far Quiet Clean Security Guards are great Street is treelined Really quiet after 10pm Pool is lovely Lifeguard there all day nandos caribou coffee Berts Wagamama Ice cream and cupcake shops Bookshop Supermarket Tips n Toes Birds nesting on my balcony Need i say anymore :-) edited by louisedvs on 24/10/2011 edited by louisedvs on 24/10/2011

You have Tecom. The Marina, JLT, Discovery Gardens and The Gardens I live at the Greens which is lovely but i am in a 1 bed paying 70AED ( my apartment was fully interior designed though, underground parking, pool, gym, shops close by. However i could do with more storage space ) Get yourself on Dubizzle as you may be able to bypass the real estate agents and save yourself 3-5000AED for their fee Better Homes House Hunters are reputable agents. I just balk at paying their fees when they dont do an awful lot ( not that many actually show you around as the apartments are sometimes open) There are lots of ladies on here who can give advise too :-)

it's quite hard to find a 2 bedroom apt in marina or jlt for 60K. Prices usually start around 70-75K. In Tecom you can find for 60K however not good quality.. and not close to Jebel Ali like jlt and marina and the access to tecom in and out during rush hour is horrible.
