Have been applying for a lot of jobs. Applied for one I would have LOVED to get. Got a call today, but I was away from my phone. Called the number back and it was from that company! BUT it was a business number and I need an extension to go further. I know there would have been a slim chance of actually getting the job even if I could have taken the call, but it would have been nice to have a fair chance :( I am feeling depressed and frustrated. I know there's probably nothing I could do now, but I really needed to get this off of my chest :(

Ahh, thanks guys. I think I'll give it a shot :) It will probably help you by showing them how interested you are to work there ... I am a little sucky at making phone calls :$. I did let her know that I applied for a position in their finance department, and I am really interested in hearing from them.

Don't be silly. Call them back - when you get to the extenson bit, hit zero, which will take you to an operator or some other person - or any other extension for that matter. Tell them that someone from the department you wanted to work in called you, get transfered to that department and work your way through. That defeatist attitude you've got isn't going to get you anywhere!

I would call it back and if it really is impossible to get anywhere without an extension number I would dial random extension numbers until I got through to someone and then would see if they can help me find the right person or department - if it is a big company they may have a HR or recruitment department. How did you apply for the job? If an email address then send an email to the same address again.
