I bought Jordanian sumac ( cheap) from carefour at the begining of Ramadan for fatouch...later I got a more expensive brand ( Lebanese) to prepare masaken where I have to add the sumac to onions and cook in oil...to my surprise the oil has turned bright red. Is this normal?? I am worried they have added food coloring to the spices...

Union Coop (Wasl Road) has it also in the spice section.

Thanks for your offertory but with just 10days left I will just use the Jordanian one for fat ouch as it seems it does not have any added colorants. I feel cheated as the Lebanese brand from carrefour was 3times more expensive that the Jordanian one..lesson learnt.
