Oh I know exaclty what you mean... They are lovely... I'm sure he'll appreciate anything you do for him. I don't know if this would work at all, but one of the supermarkets does home delivery - perhaps you could get in touch with them and see if they deliver to hospitals? Then you could get some flowers, food, whatever...

I think they charge AU$5 for delivery, but perhaps they're cheaper than a florist?
Why send a card when you can email ;) I know - they're bl00dy expensive and the Aussie dollar is ridiculously high at the moment too! If you know someone over there, perhaps you could give them some money and get some much cheaper at the shops?
Oh, I'll be emailing too, and no doubt as soon as he is conscious again he'll be on facebook, he was at 5.30 in the morning, just before he went down to theatre, haha... I don't really know any of his friends over there, only his boyfriend and I don't like to ask him as he'll be fretting and fussing really badly as it is! Ah well, he's worth it, maybe I'll ask my sister and we can share the cost then it won't be quite so expensive. Don't really like to sound cheap, but they only last a week and then it's money just gone...

Hi meals, thanks so much for that info and the wishes, didn't know about the hospital florists, I shall have a google, it's the Mater Hospital. I will probably send him something a bit more substantial once he gets home, but he does so love his flowers (if you know what I'm getting at..! ;) ).
Lol :) Well, flowers ARE always lovely! Can't blame the guy!

Hi Cheeky Monkey, your cousin won't be allowed flowers in the ICU (allergens etc). As for the other wards, that shouldn't be a problem. However, perhaps you could send a gift hamper instead?
There's a few online florists you can order from - or if you know the hospital you could ring the florist that works in the hospital (most hospitals have their own florists in house).
Try;
intaflora.com.au
readyflowers.com.au
rosesonly.com.au
Those are the one's I've ordered through and the flowers have always been lovely. On their websites they also have options for fruit or chocolate hampers etc.
HTH And I hope your cousin recovers quickly!
Hiya Girls,
My lovely cousin has had to have a really serious operation on his back today, six hours later and all is well, however he will be in intensive care for a few days and then hospital for a week so I'd love to send some flowers to cheer him up. Does anyone know if flowers are allowed in Australian hospitals or if there are any restrictions on the type (e.g. lilies that have a strong smell)? I know they probably won't be allowed in intensive care but how about the normal recovery rooms? Also, can anyone personally recommend a really reliable flower delivery company that would take to a hospital? Preferably one I can deal with via the internet as I am in the UK.
Hoping you girls can help as always, my fount of information! ;)
Thanks a million!
