Afternoon all,

Am becoming increasingly frustrated as I bought the above from previous tenant as he couldn't fit it in his new place and saved me the hassle of going out buying new one. Problem is there's only a cold connection and NO way are my clothes getting properly washed. I'm using the cycle 3 times for one wash of clothes and then having to hand wash as not satisfied with the cycle wash. The machine is only 6 months old and I'm despairing. I'm used to really hot water for a wash, especially bed linen which just doesn't cut it in my opinion with tepid temperature water.

If I set the machine to hot wash it won't work - will only operate from a warm wash instruction.

Any advice anyone please?

We have fisher and Paykel 10kg(?) top loader... and only the 'cold' tap connection - Cold in Dubai is always warm anyway... and have no problems at all! I always wash in cold water in OZ too and have no problems. For particularly dirty loads I up the notches so it washes Harder... and I always use the manual water height as the default economy settings don't seem to 'slosh' about enough... but otherwise perfect even with the 'cold' tap only...

Hi yummybrummy, very surprised by this as I LOVE my LG top loader. I now have a new one after my old one finally gave up the ghost after 14 years hard labour!!! Mine is only connected to the cold wash (which gives me a hot wash in summer and cold in winter!). I have the 12kg loader and usually have a nearly full load - one trick to is to always 'up" the water level by one press so that you have more circulation in the water and make sure that your washing powder is for a top loader and not a front loader (we only use Persil as my kids are allergic to most others). You might also need to clean your filters in the tub as this will help get a cleaner wash. Hope these tips help and that you end up loving your machine as much as I do! Thanks for that Ashes but sorry it's gotta go!!! Have already put the word around that I'm selling it and intend on buying a new front loader next week. However, appreciate all your advice but my mind's made up. Anyhoos glad to hear you're happy with yours - shame you're not on the lookout now for another ;-)

LOL no! I didn't like my LG front loader either! I love my Fisher & Paykel Top loader but after learning what I said in my previous post the hard way, I didn't buy it until I was positive that where we live now has both hot & cold water supplies to the washing machine. Try putting it on Classisifeds or Dubizzle. Check Carrefour online [url=http://www.ic4uae.com/SpecialOffers.aspx?gclid=CMa40OvC0asCFUMOfAodmDzsVQ'>link[/url'> for deals for washers that can often be delivered (but not necessarily installed) the next day. edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 05/10/2011

Usually, the top loaders you buy here don't have a heating element so rely on a hot water supply to provide a hot wash. However, a large number of properties (The Lakes being one example) only have a cold water supply for the washing machine. If this is the case then there's really not a lot you can do I'm afraid. Thanks Sandy, in that case is there anyone who would like an LG top loader? :-(
